BEAR
Isobel is away at Guide camp this weekend so we have a weekend (or part of it at least) to ourselves. Peter decided he fancied a walk but as he hasn't done much since his slipped disc he wasn't sure what he would be able to manage.
We decided to go up past Bolton Abbey to Barden Bridge. This is a very picturesque and popular walking area. So popular that we struggled to find parking space at Barden Bridge so we drove a little way up and found a layby that was perfect.
We set off with Evie and Bear and dropped down to the Dalesway Footpath. Both of us have done the full Dalesway in the past. It is from Ilkley to the Lake District - Windermere to be precise. I think it is about 80 miles in total and I did it with my two stepsons when they were 12 and 9. I was immensely proud of them for doing it as I wasn't sure they would be able to.

Anyway, back to today, we followed the path alongside the river and the dogs had fun chasing in and out of it, especially Evie, as she loves the water.
There were lots of lambs about and primroses and wild garlic were prolific too.

After about three miles we came up into Appletreewick, a tiny Dales village with a couple of pubs and very little else. We went to the New Inn as we knew they allowed dogs in there. It was nearly empty when we got in there but soon filled up to being full.
After a lovely meal and, in Peter's case, a couple of pints, we set off back again. There were a couple of short sharp showers but nothing terrible. Peter managed the walk admirably but any further might have been too much for him.
