Day Nine. Mixed feelings

Got up early to go for a run but the pavements and roads were icy and it was very windy. Decided it wouldn't be wise to get out there and break something.

So I set the Wii up and did 50 minutes of Just Dance. The sweat was pouring down my face by the time I had done so I knew it was doing some good.

Last night we got a phone call to say my partner's sister was very ill in hospital so we decided we had to go and see her today. She's had a lot of problems in recent years mainly caused by her estranged husband who is bi-polar and has tried to strangle her and thrown her out of their house despite her standing by him after several affairs. She was self employed and he managed to lose her a lot of clients. She turned to drink. She still stood by him for various hospital appointments for his heart even though they were no longer together (she is 46 and they had been married nearly 30 years).

She met someone else and eventually moved in with him and was picking up the threads of her life. Her daughter kept in contact with her but her two sons were turned against her by their dad. Her whole life has been her family so this was another blow for her.

Last night we learned that she had hepatitis and jaundice. There was a rumour of renal and liver failure but we didn't know how true this was. This morning we travelled to the hospital and were shocked by what we saw. She looked scrawny and yellow through the jaundice. She looked 20 years older than she is and she could barely breathe. The staff weren't helpful and just told us that she had pneumonia but nothing else.

We went to visit Peter's mum who we haven't seen for about four year(another long story). Had a good chat there and then came home.

Not long after getting home we got a phone call to say she wasn't expected to survive the night. We are now waiting. Waiting for info. Peter didn't want to go back to the hospital but between us we made sure that her sons did their best to get there before it was too late. They have at least a seven hour journey so let's hope they haven't left it too late.

Sorry that was a long blog and little to do with exercise but I needed to write it.

  1. Sorry to hear about your friend, but it is very kind of your to be there with your support. I'm sure it helps.

50 minutes of Just Dance sounds pretty fun. And sweaty.

  2. Tough times for you FP, nothing can be done for her now, but wait, some people have such sad lives.
I'm sure that Janathon is helping somehow, and I'm wondering if I ought to be getting that Just Dance here!
    Take care
    xx
